LOCATION

The location of the CEC is immediately to the west of the Calabar City in Cross River State, Nigeria, in the Bight of Benin.

Airport

Calabar has an international airport, some 2450m long, which can handle up to Boeing 737 airliners.
It is approx 4 kms from the CEC site.

Sea

There is the existing NPA Jetty in Calabar, just upstream from the CEC Site.  It has restricted access and storage and thus the CEC Port will provide enhanced capacity for both the CEC and the Calabar FTZ.

Road 

Road access to Calabar from the rest of Nigeria is being improved significantly.  Major projects are underway, and will be commissioned by the time that the CEC becomes available in 2025.

Rail

Calabar has been proposed as the eastern extent of the Lagos - Calabar Coastal Rail link.  That would mean the building of a rail link from Aba (Abia State) to Calabar.
Such a link would also provide an interconnection to the Eastern narrow gauge railway from Port Harcourt to Maiduguri.
